Reflection:
My piece "Second Hand Smoke" is a sculpture that symbolizes my hate for cigarettes. I chose to make this because this topic is very personal to me, this is also how I cam up with the name of this piece. The overall sculpture consists of many different elements and several different symbols. The project itself was also not easy, placing all of the matches and laying coat after coat of white paint was very tedious and time consuming. There were many different things I could have improved on as well throughout this piece. At first I tried to use wood glue and glue the matches to the outside of the not stick side duck tape, that did not work whatsoever and was very messy. Because of this I had to think differently so I decided to reverse duck tape and just set the matches down on them which was much faster and much more effective.

What is the overall approach the author has regarding the topic of your inspiration? Its depicted as a topic of importance in youth and some older generations being a mental health danger and threat. What kind of generalizations and conclusions have you discovered about people, ideas, culture, etc. while you researched your inspiration? I found out that this is a really big problem in America and that it has been for some time. younger generations like mine struggle with peer pressure and smoking. Groups like #Truth do a really good job at helping to stop it and get help to those who need it most. What is the central idea or theme around your inspirational research?. I wanted to find information that pertains to the situation that I've been in my whole life, dealing with second hand smoke and seeing the effects of cigarettes wear on people. What kind of inferences did you make while reading your research? I assumed that smoking was obviously a large problem in America but I did not know teen smoking was such a big problem. |
